Make the switch to Digital Free to Air television has been around in analogue form for over 50 years. Now there is a new form of TV offering more TV channels and better sound and picture quality. Although Digital has been around in Australia since 2000, there is now more choice in channels in the digital only format which can only be viewed by a Digital Television or a Set Top Box and also come in a two flavours, High Definition (HD) and Standard Definition (SD). Most television channels in Australia broadcast in HD and with a HD Set Top Box you can enjoy different programming such as Ten's 24 hour sport channel, ONE HD. A HD Set Top Box will cost around $99.00 for a basic model and the most expensive model that records TV around $249. If you are in one of the major capital cities, you might like to go a cheaper option of Standard Definition. The only difference is that you don't get any HD channels, however in the major cities, ONE HD is offered as an SD channel and the new service offered by the Nine Network called GO!. A SD Set Top Box will cost around $60. Most regional TV viewers at this stage offer most channels in SD format.
